Mr. Renfrow joined the organization in 2001. He is a graduate of Westminster College and the Cannon Trust School. Mr. Renfrow is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA). For more than 25 years he has worked with clients in the areas of estate and financial planning and investment management. Mr. Renfrow is a past president of the Rape and Abuse Crisis Services Board of Directors, and the Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation Board of Directors.  He is currently serving as a Board Member for the Cole County Residential Services Board, is a member of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson City Host Lion's Club.

Holly Schroer

Ms. Schroer received her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri (Columbia) in 1990. Before joining our Trust Services department in 2003, she was a partner in the Union, Missouri law firm of Baylard, Billington, and Dempsey PC. Ms. Schroer had been engaged in practice at law with this firm for six years, focusing her practice in the areas of estate planning, probate, estate and gift taxation, and trust preparation and administration. Previously, she had been employed in the trust tax services department of Nations Bank (now Bank of America) in St. Louis and as an estate tax attorney for the U.S. Department of the Treasury in Orlando, Florida. Ms. Schroer is active in her local church, is currently serving as a board member for the Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation and for the Missouri Baptist Foundation and is a member of the Zonta Club of Jefferson City.

Randy McPhail

Mr. McPhail joined Hawthorn Bank in 2016. Mr. McPhail is a Vice President and Trust Officer. Mr. McPhail's responsibilities include relationship management and business development for the Northwest, Southwest and West Central regions. Mr. McPhail's primary focus is on Trust and Estate Planning, Asset Management, Custody, and non-municipal escrows related but not limited to Subscriptions for Public and Private Placements (i.e., Non-Trade REITS, Hedge Funds and Regulation D Financings), Mergers and Acquisitions, Environmental Remediation Trusts, Construction Retainages, Court Ordered Qualified Settlement Funds, and Liquidation Trusts. Mr. McPhail began his career in corporate trust in 1990 and worked for several corporate trust departments, including UMB Bank, until 2000. In October 2000 Mr. McPhail joined a small independent public finance financial advisory firm called Columbia Capital Management. Mr. McPhail managed the Structured Reinvestment function at Columbia. This area focused on the reinvestment of municipal bond proceeds into guaranteed investment contracts, repurchase agreements, forward delivery agreements and open market fixed income securities. After spending 10 years at Columbia Capital, Mr. McPhail rejoined UMB Bank in 2010 to head up national business development for the bank's Corporate Trust and Escrow Services division. Mr. McPhail holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Kansas and attended Canon Corporate Trust School.

Karen Prenger

Mrs. Prenger joined the organization in 1979 where she began her career in the Loan Department. In 1982 she transferred to the Trust Department where she has held a variety of positions. For many years she was responsible for the Trust Operations area and is currently serving as a Trust Administrator. She is a native of Jefferson City and has lived here all her life. Mrs. Prenger has completed courses through the Center of Financial training, Sungard training for Trust Operations and Nichols Career Center. Mrs. Prenger is active in her church where she currently serves as Treasurer. She volunteers at Immaculate Conception School and is a member of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce.
