Coronavirus Updates for Our Customers

Updated April 3, 2020:

The well-being of our employees and customers is always our bank’s top priority. Today, of course, that means paying special attention to the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), so we’d like to share with you some of the ways we are addressing the current situation.

Paycheck Protection Loans for Small Businesses

As part of the new CARES Act, Hawthorn Bank is an approved lender in the Paycheck Protection Program.

Paycheck Protection loans are forgivable loans that allow business owners to continue paying their employees during the COVID-19 crisis. Small businesses with fewer than 500 employees may qualify for up to 8 weeks of payroll costs, including benefits.

  • In an effort to reduce in-person contact, we are now serving customers through our drive-up and video teller lanes with limited lobby access at all of our branches. The Clinton Wal-Mart and Downtown Warsaw branches are temporarily closed. Customers may access the lobby as needed, but we ask that you call ahead or approach our drive-up lane first to speak with a teller.
  • Our bank branches regularly undergo professional-grade cleaning, which includes disinfecting all hard surfaces. We have recently increased the frequency of these cleanings, as well as our supply of disinfectants and hand sanitizers at all our branches.

Financial Hardship Relief Measures

Our bank has always done what we can to assist customers facing financial difficulties. Today, we are:

  • Lowering our Non-Sufficient Funds fees to $10.00 until April 30
  • Eliminating prepayment penalties on CDs until April 30
  • Offering mortgage relief programs for customers who may have income uncertainty. Call 1-833-554-0713 or email for more information.
  • Offering a consumer loan “skip-a-payment” option for customers. Click here for details.

We hope these temporary changes offer a small measure of assistance to you through these unusual times.

If you should you have any questions, please call us toll-free at 1-877-442-9846. We’re here to help.

Remote Access

If you prefer to do your banking remotely, we offer many ways to do so.

At this time, we strongly encourage customers who have not yet enrolled in online banking to do so now:

Enroll for Online Banking
for 24-hour access to view transactions, check balances, pay bills and more.
Download our Mobile App
to view transactions, check balances, pay bills, deposit checks remotely and more.

If you prefer to speak with a banker, you can also use one of our live Video Tellers. You can do almost any transaction with a Video Teller from the comfort of your car, with extended morning and evening hours. Find a Video Teller Near You.

The health and well-being of our customers, employees and community is of utmost importance. If additional measures are deemed necessary in the coming weeks, we will communicate those changes with you.

Thank you for your continuing business and trust in our bank.
